It’s Wednesday and a perfect day for another round of Tape Wars 1985.

Yesterday’s emotional battle saw Simple Mind’s Don’t You (Forget About Me) defeating Sussudio by Phil Collins (with 77% of the vote!).

People were torn between the catchy Phil Collins tune and the Breakfast Club classic.

Here’s how the bracket is looking so far? (who do you think it going to win it all?)

Today?

We’ve got a face off between 2 songs with totally different vibes.

On one side, you’ve got a song with—quite possibly—the best song intro ever and the iconic “I want my MTV!” chant (courtesy of Sting!) in Money for Nothing by Dire Straits.

And it’s opponent… the Mr. Mister ballad that just makes you want to belt out “take.. these Broken Wings!” at the top of your lungs.

Do not count out Broken Wings… people LOVE that song. I think this will be a close one.

YOU decide who moves onto the next round.

Oh yeah, you don’t think just because Tape Wars 1985 is going on—I stopped creating our awesome countdowns, did you?

Yesterday, we went back to MTV in 1988 to see all the videos in “heavy rotation” (being played up to 5 times a day!).

Then, last night, we looked at 23 different #1 songs on the radio this week in 1984—and it’s packed with hit after hit!

I absolutely love doing all of this for you and truly hope you’re enjoying the few minutes of fun each day as much as I enjoy creating it for you.

All your positive emails, comments and support mean more than you’ll ever know. ❤️

Ain’t nothing gonna break our stride.

Let’s Play,
Ryan

P.S. Remember to place your vote here for today’s Tape Wars battle (Money for Nothing vs Broken Wings)
